On the surface it may seem shallow to believe that a persons outer appearance is important but no one is going to congratulate you on your perfectly funcitioning liver. First impressions fortunately do count or the world would be playing host to severely under groomed, strange talking people. A streak in vanity, a fascination with the never ending world of glamour, together with a huge interest people has inspired me to take up Beauty Therapy. I remember a period in my life just post puberty where self loathing would take over and one day I walked out of a salon thinking, "WOW! I feel great! I could conquer the world!!" It was a simple case of lather, rinse and repeat and a GHD straightner. The second thought that entered my head was "I really really really want to make people feel this good".
Beauty is a continually evolving concept that will always change because no one person is the same. I take inspiration from differences and enjoy appreciating each individual as a person. Coming from a multi cultural background I have been exposed to different types of cultural practices, many different weddings, dark skinned, light skinned people, prejudices against colour which inspired me to take an interest in phrenology as a personal interest. Academically bound from a young age, I have always been curious about people and a chance to pursue this course would finally let me explore my creativity in a hands on approach and that would enable me to meet new people all the time. I would be able to apply my degree in psychology exploring the way the body affects the mind and vica versa. Most of all, I would be making a true difference to people inside and out hopefully creating for myself a reputable and interesting career.
