Dentistry PS - learnchinese15 - 04/09/2008 the deadline is coming soon and ive only just started it. i know basically what to mention: interest in dentistry, caring attitude, commitment etc etc. but im having troubles with the work experience and manual dexterity portfolio. for work experience i have not been able to do any shadowing during summer as it has been busy for dental practices. i have however managed to book an appointment somewhere in October but AFTER the deadline (15th). i have heard that you only mention work that you HAVE DONE and not work that you WILL DO in the statement. since i have booked it but not done it, would it still be worthwhile to mention my arrangements regarding the work experience? because i wont have anything to write about the work environment in a practice would it work if i talk about my past experiences with the dentist as a patient and how it had inspired me to become one? for manual dexterity i am considering make a ship in a bottle (might as well try it now when i have a reason to). do i have to mention my handskills in some form in the statement or will that matter be dealt with at the interview. wow ive rambled quite a bit over 3 points. must fix that in the final draft RE: Dentistry PS - BadWolf - 06/09/2008 learnchinese15 Wrote:the deadline is coming soon and ive only just started it. i know basically what to mention: interest in dentistry, caring attitude, commitment etc etc. I would probably mention something regarding work experience than risk not mentioning at all. However, I would make sure to focus on your past experiences as a patient, as that is what they want. Perhaps you could just link your future work experience (with a brief sentence) to your past experiences, i.e. "my desire to work in a dental practice has inspired me to organise work experience at....". Also, check out ther personal statements section on this site: http://www.studential.com/personalstatements/default.asp for help with writing a dentistry personal statement, RE: Dentistry PS - learnchinese15 - 07/09/2008 that covers up alot. thanks! |
