personal statement - Guest - 11/11/2006

Hi. I'm applying for
law
law and psychology
crimonology and psychology
and
MAYBE
forensic studies and crimonology (mainly just because it interests me even and i have one last palce to fill on my UCAS form)

I no there are 4 different courses but psychology and crimonology is the one i'm applying for at 3 different unis and the one i really want to get into. So thats was i'm concentrating on in my personal statement. I've had some comments on it so far and someone said its lacking something but that didint know what?! Smile

I dont want to post it all so i'm just going to psot the first part.

Could anyone give me any views please? Any ideas would be brill good or bad! Thank you

Every time we watch the news or read a newspaper there is always some mention of crime. This proves the impact that crime has on our lives and makes you ask the question why is there so much crime around? The psychology behind cases such as Fred and Rose West, who were barbaric serial killers who tortured and sexually abused people for days. But how did they developed the mind set to commit such horrific crimes, were they just born criminals or made? This has been a question psychologists have asked for years. Another case is Harold Shipman also interests me and I have recently read Harold Shipman Mind Set on Murder by Carole Peters which talked about the psychology behind crimes and how he managed to commit so many murders, for years with no one suspecting him.
