ACCESS STUDENTS - Lozza - 22/09/2006 Can anyone help me out? I have just started an Access to Teaching course this week, and have straight away been advised to make a start on my personal statement. As I have only just began my course I am finding it difficult to know where to start, as I can write very little about my studies so far. Is anyone else in the same boat, or have been and can give me some advice on how to enhance my personal statement? Many thanks, Laura RE: ACCESS STUDENTS - Sazle - 26/09/2006 Hey ya, I'm an Access student as well so I know where you are coming from. I have already completed two modules because I started in January, (I'm doing the course part time and because I started in January and not September I've had to double up this term). As for your personal statement, try and focus on why you want to go into teaching (I persume that is what you want to do) and any previous or current work experience. Think about what you'll be studying on the Access course and try to incorporate some ideas into your statement. If you like, explain why you are on an Access course and not entering Ubiversity via A Levels, I am but only do so if you feel it is important. If all else fails, just blag it!! Na, I'm only kidding. Don't rush it though, you have plenty of time. Talk to other students on your course and get advise from your tutor. My tutor actually took us through the online UCAS application procedure. Also, get other people to read what you have written and don't accept weedy comments like "ohh, very impressive", "that's good". Remember, your personal statement will probably be the most important piece of writing you will ever have to do so take your time and really think about what you want to say. Also, get a thesaurus. Mine has been my lifeline throughout my Access course and writing my personal statment. Good Luck |
